I have no problem with it. I pay $60 for a Bethesda game and proceed to play it for on average 300 Hours. Bought Fallout 76 and now have 350 played hours in it. You absolutely can not find a better entertainment deal than that! $7 isn't even pocket change any more. I consider the entertainment factor for a game is $1 per hour to get my value out of the game. Every single Bethesda game I've played blows that completely out of the water!

x4 is the perfect grey area for space games

There's literally no sandbox MMO as deep and complex as EVE Online, hence why it still remains strong. Sure, there's Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, and even Albion Online, but they're not quite to the level of social, economic and strategic depth as EVE. The closest persistent online sandbox I've found to EVE, at least logistics and strategy-wise, is Fox Hole.

X4 has not been enjoyable at all to me, and I've spent hundreds of hours on X3. The game explains nothing to you, the UI makes no sense, and the missions in Timelines aren't fun either. The first mission where you race against other people feels like a minigame out of a PS2 era game which made me ask "Why am I doing this?". The first combat mission was an absolute disaster. I kept getting blown up and had no clue what I did wrong. Terrible experience for a new player.

I'm confused. I just bought X4 based on this recommendation but it says Timelines is a further £12.49, not free?

No VR no care. Why would I play this?

I'm glad you still give this game the spotlight now and then. It deserves it, since while "Timelines" is possibly the most controversial DLC, the base game and the rest of the DLC are really fun.

X4 sound like a Mount and Blade in the space.

I love the X universe games. I started playing them with X2: The Threat, and when X3: Reunion was released I became super addicted. I played hundreds of hours in it and in the 2 standalone expansions. X: Rebirth was a disappointment, but thankfully they went back to the formula that made the games amazing with the release of X4: Foundations. I have put in nearly 700 hours into X4 so far and with this newest expansion I expect to put in many more hours.

All the extra stuff sounds like a lot of bloat, I hope it gives us options to disable it or not include it in the installation. All I want with the new FS 2024 is improved performance and improved realism in the photogrammetry without requiring a super computer. I have a late generation Asus ROG motherboard, paired with an Intel i9 processor overclocked to 5 GHZ, 64 GB of DDR 4 RAM, a GeForce 4070 ti Super 16 GB overclocked, output displayed on a Sony 49" UHD TV, running at 120 HZ refresh rate, with a Corsair 1400 watt power supply, running Windows 11 on a SSD, and FS 2020 installed on a separate NVME SSD 2.0. All those components and I still experience stutters at very dense areas such as KLAX.

No idea why you dote on Elite so much, it barely holds a candle to Star Citizen for some time now. yes it used to be the only real show in town then SC was a trainwreck. but thats all changed.

i had the first 2 X games, and since a long time now i just don't enjoy single players like that much anymore. now my BF plays x4 for me sometimes and it's nice to just watch. it's nice to see how that game evolved. it's one of the few things that are going right in gaming instead of turning to crap like so many other games.

If they walk back now and put ships as cosmetics only that creates such hell of a lawsuit. They sold the ships with the specs and belief of what they are. Doing that likely would be the end of the store front.

I love X4 and the X series. But really waiting for a solid co-op mode.

Some of the space games i was more a fan of were Galactic Junk League and Dreadnought unfortunately i can't find any games like them

Get rid of single player mode , make it fun to play , get rid of the farming shit for every thing. Get rid of engineering.... Actually you right make a new game . Elite is actually shit .

It is $18 in Australia. I feel that is a bit over the top. So I won't be buying it.

Did you see they (Asobo/MS) confirmed we can in fact get out of the aircraft, walk around, remove "remove before flight tags" and do external pre-flight checks?! I'm blown away!!!! Wow!!!

Got X-4 on Steam a couple years ago. Haven't played yet. But someday I'll have time to learn a new game

Just purchased the game and I've got to say the Timelines DLC has really put me off, These missions are way too difficult for new players like me and as you pointed out, they don't teach you anything. Just an exercise in frustration.

Tbh, I never know what to do in X4. If you do the story missions, it basically stops and waits for you to entertain yourself for hours before continuing. Meanwhile, it's a complete mystery how to find missions to do to make money or do anything else in the game.

This game has my heart, although I haven't played it for over a year. Last time I played this game I had setup a good economy. However, as time goes on the simulation halts every time. I tried to resupply station across the galaxy manually and had ships going there to provide them with the necessaries. It wouldn't work. Also, and that is a reason to not start the game ever again until they fixed this. Right now I need to have certain mods. Like the mod that automates mining and trading better with ships (which is also not great). I have not seen any updates tackling this, so maybe (hopefully) I missed that. But this is one of the biggest thing they, in my opinion, should focus on. !Automation! Maybe I will install the game again. Because in essences I really really enjoyed my time with this game.

X4 is one of those rare gems where: The more you play, the more you want to play more. I have almost 800 hours in the game and I have more I want to do. It keeps you coming back year after year because there's always more to do. The simulation is second to none, which means the sandbox is second to none. It has a learning curve, sure, but honestly, compared to Elite: Dangerous it's much simpler. Go through the flight school tutorials, but even after that you'll learn so much more as you play. It is absolutely amazing though. I am surprised the game doesn't have more followers. It's flight model may not be the "best" according to some but it is fun and dynamic without being too painful to adapt to. I actually enjoy the flight model a lot and think it's the most fun for my preference. Seeing your armada getting into battle is an unparalleled reward, even if you lose. Not to mention the satisfaction of building your own space station or network of stations. And the lore of the universe is surprisingly good.

i will never forget the fight i had to put in getting into the x universe with x3 reunion. i only had heard about xbtf before, but apart from it being a game in space i didnt knew anything about it. what i can say is, that it was a very rewarding experience. also the replayability is insane, which is also part of the rewarding experience, because you wont make all those errors you made on the savegame before. one of the most memorable gaming moments i will probably remember forever is getting crushed by a boron tl entering a sector and i didnt move away because i handled my incoming messages right after i jumped and idled at the jumpgate - man i would have loved to see my face there trying to figure out what happened xD

I really enjoy X4 but I will say that my biggest drawback a lot of the factions tend to be...very samey. The DLC faction ships have some more interesting hulls but everyone still uses the same weaponry until the Borons got released (which sadly their weapons are....ehhh?). I will say from an unlock perspective I do kinda like the addition. I tend to start new saves for the different game starts and this ends up populating the world with some ships for a starter fleet.

I have been on elite since the beginning but to be honest, after Odyssey and charging real world money for ships already in the game, be it optional, I have decided to call it a day on there and look for something to take its place, this might just do.

I have tried X4 two times and ragequit both. Once on launch and once like a year ago. I liked the idea of it but it was like the devs didnt want me to play...

I really enjoy the overall large update to the base game but that AI voice acting (and its writing) is just so painful to listen to.

For me, X4 Foundations is one of the best Space games of all time. I LOVE IT. I will get the timeline expansion to support the developers. The X4 is really the very best.

Hi Do you know what happens for DLC from MSFS2020 after MSFS 2024? Are they transferable to new sim?

I still wish that COD Infinite Warfare had a spinoff game. I loved the space combat in that game but I feel they couldnt lean too much on that cause the 'boots on the ground' crowd would hate it, much like the space mission on Halo Reach (also a fun experience)

ive had this game for a while now and being a long time elite player was really looking forward to it but when i started playing it it just felt as though the learning curve was a bit too much, there is the basics tutorial and then your kind of just left too it, i put about 5 hours into it and didnt really get anywhere but hearing there is now new tutorials and stuff i kind of cant wait to give it another go, still play elite but this does look like it has a lot of elements that arent present in elite, am gonna jump back on tonight i think

Well, it looks great and has a place on my wishlist to keep in tracked. We'll see if there will be an adequate challenge or just a boring (endless) farming.

Earth and Beyond was what turned me off of MMO's for years. First, I wasn't an original E&B player. They had offered it as a replacement for Motor City online when that folded. After that shit show, I was already reluctant to play another MMO. Then after transitioning to E&B, it only lasted another year. Having not one but two games you were invested in shut down within that time frame soured me.

When core features are completely done, then i would care about flashy things, but im around since 1991 and there are always pressing issues that always get hype fixed in "the next title".

Jump Pilot/Skydive Pilot would be good. Working out the wind direction and jump direction without busting airspace in some places. Pressing the green button to jump etc. Crop dusting Search and rescue. Mustering cattle in a chopper Logging Construction using Helicopter’s Sling loads. Real life air crash situations ie could one repeat the Gimly Glider incident or when the pitot covers are not taken off etc etc.

Did I miss where they added VR to X4?
